Silver leaf risk

Hello everyone,

I purchased a new Victoria Plum tree from T&M. It arrived today, but they have pruned the top off, I assume so it could fit in the packaging. Now I'm nervous that planting it out mid-winter would risk Silver Leaf disease. Should I plant it in a pot and keep it in under cover (I have a south-facing summer house, only just moved in this year so don't have a greenhouse yet), or purchase some kind of wound protecting paint? Or just risk it?

Thanks,

Isy

I think that it would be okay to plant out now as T & M wouldn't have sent it out newly pruned if they thought it would get silver leaf disease. What do their instructions say?
You could always ring their Help desk for advice as I've always found them helpful.
