This is literally the only site where I have that problem.  Unfortunately just another example of poor design.  When I raised the issue I was told to click on the cog wheel (account options) and select "Mark all viewed".  That does fix it but shouldn't be necessary.

I beg to disagree with your comment of "another example of poor design". The "remove New" feature seems to work for a majority of this forum users. It certainly works for me, both on my desktop computer and my Samsung tablet. From previous posts it seems that some users are not navigating the forum in the "normal, expected" manner, hence the noted problem. Maybe you could give more details about a) what kind of machine you are using and b) how you navigate the forum to make it clearer why the "remove New" feature is not working for you. Thanks!
EDIT.- Just thought about one possible reason why you are still seeing the "New" tag on some forums. To have it removed, you need to either read all the "new", i.e. not read by you pages, or at least go to the last unread page... and then return to the forum home. Have you tried that?

On virtually every other site I use, once you leave the site and re-enter posts which were 'New' on the previous visit no longer show that status.  Having to visit every post, whether of interest or not, in order to change the status is poor design in my opinion.
It should not be necessary to go searching for an option every time before leaving the site.
As to how I access the site, in exactly the same way I access every other forum I use.  From a bookmark which takes me to the 'Home page' of the forum.
The process I use is the one I was advised to use by Admins.  The problem is on a desktop running Windows 10.

Hi @KT53 , I again beg to disagree with your views. For me, like on other forums I belong to, this feature works exactly as it should.

I don’t understand what you mean about having to go into every thread, there’s threads on here that show me I have hundreds of new entries.  I know its no good of me even looking at them because they have photos or general chat that I don’t read, I just don’t look at those threads.
Just look at the titles you’re interested in and leave the rest.
I find this site works in every  way,  much better than the previous one.

  • I think the main issue is that for some people - including me - the behaviour seems to have changed recently. The "new" label used to disappear when I used the back button but now it doesn't. I like to use the back button to navigate because it takes me back to the same place on the page. If I use the discussions button then I have to scroll down again or even go to a different number page.

@Singing Gardener I see what you mean. But as I said earlier in this discussion it's not a good idea to use the Back button to navigate the forum. Because most browsers will save visited pages in their cache, if you click/tap the Back button, you are NOT taken to a new version of the Discussions page but to its cached version, where of course the NEW item is still there as it was when you first landed on the forum Discussions page. I hope that is clear. ;)

I find it the same as Singing Gardener. I am glad to get rid of the "new" by using either the discussions button or Forum home button but it won't take me back to where I was reading whereas backspacing did. No hardship I suppose.
