It remains if I press 'back' after reading a thread but goes if I click a new link. Might be a cache issue.

You do need to refresh rather than just back space

Thanks everyone for all your responses. I have always backspaced to come out of a thread and had no trouble before. As I have said I now have to come out and click on the icon to go back in. Thanks for alerting the mods Dove.

Seems very strange that it is happening to just a few...
  • My phone is having problems too clearing threads that I have read. Only going if I leave completely and come back.

I think there might be a glitch somewhere. A couple of days ago, I had the opposite problem - there was no 'new' icon showing on a couple of threads , but when I went in there were new posts. It wasn't a refreshing / caching issue as it only happened on a couple of threads (other were showing 'new' or not as usual) and it happened over abouf a 24 hour period, then went back to working as normal again.

Using backspace to navigate the web is usually not a good idea.

Oh @Papi Jo you have solved the problem for me!  :) Not being computer literate and relying on trial and error I thought "what do I use if I don't backspace" and noticed the Forum Home and hey presto it worked. It will also save me a lot of time as reading a few pages can involve a lot backspacing. No more "new" appearing after reading. Very many thanks. Maybe others who had same problem will benefit.
