Hi, I bought a plant today labelled Cotoneaster- any idea on the variety, the GC hadn't. It seems to have a few purple berries on it. Thanks

Maybe you've been sold a Lonicera nitida by mistake ?

    I think that's a Lonicera,
    Lonicera pileata or nitida

    In the sticks near Peterborough

@Daintiness, are you sure you bought that in a garden centre? ;)

It does look like lonicera to me, especially in view of the purple berries. I don't know of a cotoneaster with purple berries. Hope that doesn't prove a problem @Daintiness , you may have to make decision whether to return it or keep it.

It also depends what you want the plant for Daintiness.  :)
Did you keep the receipt?   ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Oh! It was 3 plants for £11 - I wanted 3 pyracanthas but they only had 2 ...🙄So I thought I'd choose something else which looked like a decent plant 😊
Thanks for your replies, I shall now look it up to see where I should plant it! 😆
