Potentilla Tonguei

I have just bought a new Potentilla Tonguei.  I am not familiar with Potentilla.  Will it thrive in our rather heavy, moist retentive soil - with some leaf mould and grit added?  If anyone has this plant and can answer my questions and/or can post a photo that would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Which colour did you get?
You are invited to a virtual visit of my garden (in English or in French).
  • Thanks Papi-Jo, I had already looked at the RHS site - some useful information there.  The flowers are orange and bee friendly apparently.

Does like a damp soil, though not water logged. Full sun too. Easy to propagate from spring taken cuttings.
  • Good, good, Berghill.  I am assuming that you are growing one in your garden? Our soil isn't water logged - just heavy although we have been digging in some leaf mould, manure and grit in the past couple of years to help "lift" the soil and make it easier to work with.

Had P. tonguei in the garden for over 23 years, brought it with us when we moved here. This is the first year it has not thrived. Too dry altogether for it.
  • I planted the P. Tonguei this morning.  I will try to remember to photograph it next year when the flowers appear.  I must say it does look similar to a Geum.
