Will it survive winter

Hello
My japonica got badly eaten leaves this summer and looks a shadow of its former self.will it die or come back forum?

    It looks like a Spiraea. Spiraea japonica? It will come back, leaves are insect food, they've got to eat.

    Yes.  Japonica is a way to indicate something, in this case a plant, that originates in Japan and can be applied to forms of quince, cmellia, pieris and, in this case, spiraea which is a deciduous shrub.  It will lose its leaves for winter and then re-grow them in spring and produce flowers in early summer.
