I have had my Allotment for two years and really getting into it, however, Our Parish Council have decided to start charging a £40 deposit on all those Allotmenteers who have not paid one before, even if they have had their plots for 7 years and more. I paid £30 in 2017 as it was part of the agreement. The deposit is to ensure that you leave your plot in good condition and de-weeded for the next occupier or the council will do it and take your deposit. It seems fair, but some of the Allotmenteers do not have £40 hanging around and some say that the money will just be used by the Council for their normal business and not be put in a Deposit scheme. Has anyone else had to pay a deposit for these reasons??
