Interesting. Quercus ..oak tree can be ruled out as the leaves are not trilobed. Acer....maple to can be ruled out as the leaves on your tree are alternate.(Acer are opposite)
I wonder if maybe it is a baby Pysocarpus opulifolius Diabol? It looks very strong and healthy. The leaf shape can be very varied..see link.
Thanks for that link silver,it looks a good possibility with the red leaf varieties,I have not got any growing anywhere else,so it is a welcome surprise and will be carefully looked after now,
