Any ideas what this is please?

This very striking plant has sprung up in my son's garden. He has not planted anything new this year and although he is happy to leave it where it is , we would be happier knowing what it is to make sure my little grandson wont come to any harm. Thanks you everyone in advance

    One of the common mallows - malva sylvestris.  Not harmful.  Good wildflower.

    On the other hand the bright yellow plasticky thingy might be considered a hazard. ;)

    Children all drink out of plastic cups these days Papi Jo, safer than glass.
     I’m sure they’ll wash it up before giving it to the little boy.
