Help please identifying this tree.

Grateful if anybody can identify this tree. I think it is a fir.

This isn't meant to sound too cynical, but I think most people would want to see rather more of a tree than that, for identification purposes...  the whole tree for instance.. otherwise I could say it looks like a dried up sprig of Rosemary...

See what you can do Peter...?

A little ridiculous if you ask me. A picture of the entire tree firstly. Secondly is the entire tree that brown or is that and old and dried up sprig? Give us a fighting chance.

  • SORRY THE IMAGE WAS TOO BIG. THE TREE IS ALIVE ABOUT 7 FOOT TALL AND IS 6 YEARS OLD. THIS IS THE REAL COLOUR, NO ENHANCEMENTS. IT TURNS THIS COLOUR GRADUALLY FROM ABOUT AUGUST AND STAYS THIS WAY UNTIL SPRING WHEN IT TURNS GREEMN WITH THE UNDERSIDE RWALLY EMERALD GREEN. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE EVERYBODY LOVES THE COLOUR AND I WOULD BE VERY HAPPY TO RECITE THE NAME. THANKS
  • I had to zip the file to allow it to be uploaded which is why the image is a bit blurred. The piece of branch I loaded up earlier is from the tree. Sorry for the spelling mistakes
  • Have a look at Japanese Ceder (Cryptomeria japonica):

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Bingo, that's the one. Thanks BobTheGardener. Really happy. Peter

    Like I said at 19:52 :- Cryptomeria !!!
  • Thanks Paul, It was the dead bit that put me off a little. I cut off the branch just before I posted the question. Anyway great shot!. And thanks. Peter
