That looks to me very like Honey Fungus ... not considered toxic but please don't eat fungi unless you've had a proper ID from an expert ... a ID from a pic on the internet is not good enough.

I agree Honey fungus was there any old tree there? Join a fungi foray lots offered this time of year. There are some really nasty fungi out there,fits,hallucinations and death. Don't even think about it unless you know what you are doing .
