Any ideas what the name of this plant is?

    Might be one of the Guizotias, from bird seed, Nyjer

  • It looks like Teasel foliage - Dipsacus fullonum. A lovely wild flower which attracts Goldfinches when it goes to seed.

    there is some resemblance but I don't think it's teasel, the manner of growth isn't quite right.
    That's just the stage the Guizotias reach at this time of year and teasel has gone brown

    It’s definitely from the niger seeds, it’s the only one in my bird seed that germinates everywhere. 
    You can tell teasel by the very rough spotty leaves, they scratch you. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor. 

  • These plants have grown directly under our large bird feeder which we fill with Nyjer seeds. I never thought that the bird seeds could germinate into these plants although after your suggestions I checked the internet and I agree that these have come from the nyjer seeds. Thank you all for your help.
