@Marlorena you mentioned in one of the other threads that you were thinking of maybe starting a blog, I just wondered are you on Instagram? I started an IG account (@janiebarringer) really just for me as a sort of diary so I could see what what happening in my garden from one year to the next, and to show others what was working in my neck of the woods at what time of year. Also, it's a great resource to check out plants in situ in real gardens. It may be a way to get your beautiful photos out there, and to help others who are struggling with rose choices, and so much less work than a blog...? Anyone else on here with IG accounts? I love following various plantspeople...

PS Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by mentioning another media outlet...

    @Janie B

    Hello again Janie... thanks for letting me know about this... I've only heard of Instagram in passing, and so I'm not on there and really know next to nothing about it...  I'll have to take a look at it and see if it's my thing or not... I'm not sure if I'm up to a blog, I like to keep things as simple as possible..
    ...I don't do Facebook either, but Instagram is something I maybe need to check out.. I'll see if I can find you on there one day soon... thanks again...

    Instagram is great, lots of ideas and inspiration to do as well as you can. I use it a fair bit, most of my followers are also in the trade.

    Hi Janie,... just to let you know I signed up to Instagram, and found you on there.. love your photos, all those beautiful flowers... and 'Princess Alexandra of Kent' rose... amongst them..

    I'm not sure if I'll use it, I'm registered with some American sites and use them quite a bit, so I'll have to see whether I familiarise myself with this one, but thanks for alerting me to it....  @glasgowdan too !...

    @Marlorena
    So many media outlets, so little time! Must admit I used Instagram to check out various things (plants, dogs, places to visit) before I posted ... bit like some people use Pinterest (which I don't use) from what I've heard!

    Well that was an abject failure... on my part... I installed the app, as I thought I was supposed to, but still found I couldn't up load any photos... so I uninstalled it..  it's obviously a piece of cake for everyone else, but maybe it wasn't meant to be...
    Thanks anyway, I'll stick with what I already know... best wishes there...

    @Marlorena Oh dear! I'm no techno whizz, but it seems to be fairly straightforward to upload phone photos onto the app on my phone... maybe have another go tomorrow, or maybe, as you say, it wasn't meant to be!

    It must be me Janie... it said to download the app, I'm not using a mobile phone, but a laptop, and after I downloaded it, I got the screen to add photos, but nothing would work.. I spent about an hour on it, and gave up... lol...  perhaps it's something in my settings but.. never mind...  I'm not a great fan of social media sites, so maybe it's done me a favour...  take care both...

  • How strange, I was literally just reading the climbing roses thread and drooling over all of @Marlorena pictures and thinking how good an instagram account would be to follow!

    I use instagram for inspiration, I love it and use it to post pics of my renovations on my house; although its mainly just been flowers and my cat (renovations have come to a halt!!). I've followed you @Janie B and look forward to seeing your floral pictures! I'm littlecornishcottage

    Have another go @Marlorena, you should share your amazing roses with the world!

    Followed back @Newgardeninggirl ! Looks a great a/c.
    Not sure we're gonna convince @Marlorena that IG's worth the effort! At least WE've got access to her via this forum for all OUR rose queries! X
