Day lily seed pods

One of my day lilies has produced a large seed pod. I left this on the plant to dry, it has now opened and produced many beautiful large brown seeds. How should I store them, and when should I plant them please?

I would sow them now, fresh is best. But store cool and dry if you're going to store and sow in spring

I’ve just done similar with Turks Head Lilies, sown straight away.

  • You may be better off taking a root cutting from the plant, but hey, if it floats your boat...
  • But always the chance of something completely new with seed, if anyone else round about has a daylily!
