Honey fungus -just wondering

How long does honey fungus live without a food source?
If you removed susceptible plants - dead or alive, could you starve it to death?

    Hi B3

Had a problem years ago with this in a large garden I used to help maintain .
The 'boot-laces' (rhizomorphs) seemed to go on forever from the primarily infected plant .
Lost many Malus , Betula , Solanums , Berberis plus numerous others in an incredibly short time . Dramatic and unusually heavy flowering preceded death .Not at all nice when you cherish the plants involved :(
I don't know if it can be 'starved' like you say ; attacking mainly woody plants it has also been known to infect herbaceous material too .
In this manner I would have thought it would be fairly limitless in its infectious capabilities !
A copper-based fungicide (Armillatox) used to be moderately effective ; think this was banned years ago by our friends in the EU !

Have you got a problem with it ?

Thanks @Paul B3 .Not really. Some signs of it in front garden, but I try to stick to those plants on resistant list.
