I am very impressed lately with Diascia. They have flowered all summer (various shades of pink) and survived the Beast from the East. All mine were in troughs or pots and were left in by accident. Penstemons are another favourite of mine and hardy where we are. Erigon karvenki(something?!) never know how to spell that. Tiny little white/pink flowers in big fluffy cloud. Geums and scabious. I'm sure there's lots of others.
That is a good start Lizzie, I too love Penstemons, made a start today on pruning back a border, and I want to get the perennials in while it is still warm.Just looked up Diascia, they are lovely. Many thanks.
