Too late to plant out

Been sent well matured cistus 9" pot can i plant outside this time of year?

    You can if you have some well drained soil to plant it into. It won't like a winter in heavy clay.

    now is the time, the soil is still warm so the root will grow well, but its not too warm during the day to dry out new plants

    Depends where you live - there's no way I could plant out a Cistus here!
    My 'Alan Fradd', supposedly one of the hardiest ones, has to come in for the winter.
    His predecessor almost made it through to spring, in a fairly mild year, only to get caught by a sharp spring frost which finished him off!
