Bulb confusion

I have just received my Spring bulb collection from GW September mag.  It includes Brodiaea and Triteleia.  But when I look on the website for information about them they come up as the same plant.   So can anyone tell me if there is a difference and if so what it is.   Thanks

I thought they were the same thing but I can't remember which is the current name

  • Thanks, but I wonder why GW sent the same bulb in two different names.  Not helpful to a novice like me....

Maybe they got them from 2 different places and one is still using the older name. Bear in mind that those buying in bulbs for distribution by GW will not necessarily be gardeners or plants people

Triteleia is the new name I think.

  • Thanks everyone, I think you are right the name has been changed and perhaps one lot were just old stock.   They were all supposed to be from Thompson and Morgan, but who knows.   Will plant them near each other and compare when they arrive next summer.... if I remember by then!

Yes, same thing, just the name has been changed.
Brodiaea was the one I was taught at college thirty years ago.

Wow, feeling my age now 😖.
