Help with small purple/deep red tree/shrub identification please...

Any help with this appreciated...the leaves are purple/dark red on the upside but green on the underside. Thanks, David.

    I agree - probably sambucus black lace

    emm... just done that...not that much - a bit similar to grass.

    Thank you Chrissy/Pete8 that looks very close I've just looked at a few photos. Not noticed any flowering though since we moved in 5 years ago - flowers seem to be on all photos of sambucus black lace..

    If you've got berries, then they would have been preceded by flowers.
    I've just checked mine, and it too is green on the underside

    It's could do with some hard pruning over winter - it'll transform it to what you see in the photos. But new branches will not flower until the following season
