this plant is in one of my beds.It is dying back now.I would love to know what it is please.Leaves are quite rough..I did wonder if it is a large ligularia of some sort?
Thanks Silver surfer.Did look like something that didn’t reach its max this year.As it’s a new garden I’m trying to work out what all the plants are.A lot I know but some I have no idea.My rHS book is full of post It’s!Think that bed would be reasonably damp in a normal year. The previous owners weren’t into gardening at all so all beds overgrown and covered in brambles and nettles.Gonna leave all plants in for a year so I can see what plants look like and do. The owners before them were great gardeners, they used to open to the public. There is some great structure already be it plants or trellis, arches etc..Just needs work to get it back up to its previous glory..Gradually working through beds and had a truck load of bracken mulch to top all the beds up.

Loves damp, boggy spots.
Will have hated hot summer.
Should have gone glorious colour in the autumn.
