What’s wrong with my roses please?

DaveChDaveCh Posts: 4
Hi all
I’m new to gardening so can anyone help with this problem on my roses? The leaves are blackened and there are bit of the stems dying. Is it because of the hot weather? Not enough nutrients? A disease?
Thanks for any advice. The rose is floribunda and I have 4 that all look the same. It’s not flowering much either (just one little one on the main stem)

That's nothing much to worry about Dave. It's just blackspot, a fungus disease common to most roses and especially at this time of year. It's best, if you have the time, to pick off the really yellowing leaves and any that have dropped off. Then when the soil is nicely damp, you could put a layer of manure as a mulch around the rose bush which helps to stop the spread of the fungus spores. It will however come back every year.
As for the dead, black branches, just prune them back to a green bit.
