I believe that this is a crab apple tree? If it is I'm not sure what I can do with the fruit as it is now laden. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

looks like it. The fruits will smell like apples even if they're barely edible, have a sniff. Some are quite useful, others more ornamental

Thanks everyone. May give the wine a try one year but definitely food for the birds and wildlife
