Viburnum Pruning Problem

Hi, I have this Vibrunum Tinus  (I think) that was pruned into a ball before we moved in. I've been looking at it today and the leaves are all on the outer edges and mostly bare inside. I want to try to get it to look more natural but not sure how to go about it. It looks quite mature it has 3 main stems which branch off and has lots of thin twiggy bare branches. Ive been busy rearranging the border (still ongoing) lol but want this to be my next project. Any advice most welcome. Thanks

That's ghastly, you might do better to cut it right back and let it regrow. But once a shrub has been massacred like that it's hard to achieve a natural look

I cut mine back to a stump one year and it regrows quite quickly.
