"Best" is subjective - it depends what you want to kill, where it's growing, and what application method you want. Can you be a bit more specific?

Christy, what are you planning to kill?
  • I have a patch of soil that I will eventually be putting a hard floor/slabs and greenhouse on. It has a variety of different weeds growing. I'm open to any application method. I need to keep the weeds down until I get the slabs

If it's going to be a while before you lay the slabs, there'll be new weed seeds landing and growing, so it might be better to cover the area with something like old carpet, sheets of thick cardboard or thick plastic (like old compost bags or similar) which will gradually kill the weeds by excluding light and will stop any new ones germinating, as long as there aren't any gaps.

If you want a weedkiller, maybe something containing glyphosate (any brand, whichever's cheapest).

Hmm.  I can't edit my post.

Maybe weedkiller first, then cover to stop any new weeds growing.

Agent Orange is very good, although I believe quite hard to get hold of.
How can you lie there and think of England
