Can anyone identify this please?

I didn't plant it but it keeps springing up.

Can you tell me what it is please and also how to get rid of it?

It grew to about as tall as me.

(Only thought to take a pic after putting it in the bin)

Is it growing in the bin
If yes then it maybe a sprouting from a fruit or vegetable you dumped in the bin
Be adventurous and let it grow and then you can learn stuff

Looks like Kerria japonica to me.  It has yellow orange flowers.  Not one of my favourites to be honest.
    East Anglia

Yes it's kerria japonica. Cutting it down is only getting rid of the stems, you need to dig out the roots to get rid of the plant.
  • Thank you !!

Just googled Kerria japonica and that is definitely it.
So it's a shrub rather than a weed?
to get rid of it, am I best to dig up the roots and remove ?

  • Thanks so much!!!
