Horsetail weed

Morning everyone

What is the best course of action to combat horsetail in my borders? Cut off or weed killers?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I dont like to use weedkillers but this is one exception. I get the occasional bit of it coming up next to the fence bordering my neighbour. I bash it a bit then use round up gel on it, seems to work. The problem is that spraying just rolls off it. If you damage it a bit and use the gel it gets more of a hold on it.

Mares tails.....All I know is that on our allotment it is feared and we pray it does not spread to our plots.
There are lots of tales of it being indestructible and there not being any chemicals to kill it.
Suggest you do some research and take the appropriate action.
