Mistletoe

My rather elderly crab apple is being over run with mistletoe.  I've been removing it today and have completely filled a wheely bin with more than half the tree still to be stripped.  Is there any way to control mistletoe other than ripping it out manually?  As it's parasitic I'm wondering if there's anything that can be used to water the roots.  Long shot I know.

Keep it and sell it at Christmas. try brushing petrol on roots with a toothbrush not guaranteed but worth a try and won't hurt your tree

There is more mistletoe than leaf so I just want to remove it before it causes any more damage to the tree.
