Help/ advice with damsons!

What's happening to our damsons? They are oozing with a sticky, clear liquid before the fruit starts starts to shrivel. It affects all the damsons right across the tree. Any ideas of the cause and possible remedies? Photo attached!

Pick off all brown fruit and burn don't compost it'll spread the fungus won't necessarily come back next year
