Help with Holly please?

2years ago I had2get my old dog put down. I buried him in front garden with a variated Holly bush above him. Have just noticed LOT of leaves turning brown/falling off! Plant is obv very special to me as was bought in honour of scruff whom I had 17 years. Please, please, can anyone help me?

    Evergreens do lose their previous years leaves throughout the summer months ; this is a natural process . Are there any signs of fresh new growth at the tips of the branches ?
    During this dry spell , make sure it's kept watered well ; even after two-years the roots will still need a bit of 'encouragement' .
