Ideas for a climber in a pot in full sun

hiya, I have a 32cm circular pot next to my front door with a metal obilisk in it to hide the half tube of metal pipe that connects to the electric box on the front of my house.

I have tried a climatis, which was brilliant until the sun baked it. It is now brown all over, despite being watered. (I had bubble wrapped the pot inside and gravelled the top).

Does anyone have any other suggestions for plants that would go in the pot?? It would face west and gets a lot of heat and sun from midday onwards.

Perhaps solanum? Or a container grape? You might need a bigger pot for that.

I'd agree with Fire - the pot is pretty small for anything other than annuals. The heat will see most of them off.
    Thinking caps on..... :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

For summer, maybe Thunbergia alata.? Eccremocarpus scaber might just about survive in a pot that size.
Ideally if you could fit a bigger pot, at least 50cm diameter , you'll have a lot more choice.

Thankyou. I’ve got confused. The pot is just short of 40cm in width. Does that help atall?!

This is is the widest the garden centre has.

Are there any good websites that sell larger pots?

What would my options be if I had a larger pot?

    Thankyou.
