Rhododendron leaves turning yellow and brittle

hi
planted rhododendron 2 months ago, seems to be growing nicely howether some leaves are turning yellow and very brittle/crispy. Soil metre says the soil is moist.... also looks like new bud growth in July, but thought these only flowered in spring....can anyone advise??

It's normal for them to drop some leaves through the year - all evergreens do it.  :)
The 'buds' are just new foliage.

They start making next year's flower buds in July/August so it's important to keep them well watered from now until the autumn rains or they'll drop the flower buds to save foliage which is their food factory.
