phlox drummondii deadheading

I have grown these for the first time and they are lovely. Now deadheading but not sure where to cut back to ensure more flowers. I have only cut the actual flower head so far should I cut further back?

Cut the stem back to just above a pair of leaves. The new buds will come from the leaf axils. If you cut higher up, they will still sprout, but you have bits of stem sticking up.
