Getting rid of bamboo

ive been digging up bamboo in our garden. We’ve got the shallow clumps of roots up but can see some roots under our neighbours decking. Any tips to get rid of this?

Paint anything that sticks its head above the parapet, so to speak, with glyphosate gel.
  • I’m slowly winning the bamboo battle. My neighbour had their bamboo hedge removed in April when replacing the fence.

i happened to be there when the landscapers were digging it up and the root system was scary, took out all the soil behind part of my retaining wall!

We have a few shoots coming up so as I spot them they get soaked in roundup tough root weekdkiller (black label) and this seems to be working to keep it at bay.

Bamboo shoots generally run pretty close to the surface.  When I was removing my bamboo I didn't come across any which were more than a few inches down.  The method I used, was to remove the main plant and then looks for the end of the runner where it left the main plant.  I then pulled the runner up firmly and I could see the bulge where it was running under the lawn.  I used a spade to cut the turf over the runner and pulled it up through the turf.  I had to do that with about a dozen runners so it was a slow job.  On the upside, I've had no sign of an bamboo surviving.
