Small greenhouse project

hello gardeners
we have a small garden and my husband is determined to have a small greenhouse against a fence to grow tomatoes. There is only one place where we can installed the greenhouse but it will only be in the sun till about 1.30pm. Is it worth it?

    Hello MartineB

I have a 12'x10' greenhouse filled with sun-loving cacti , Aloes , Euphorbias and other 'delicacies' ; this time of year the shade from nearby trees excludes the sun from around 2.00pm every day ; the plants are thriving !
    "Is it worth it"?
    Definitely "Yes"!!

    Good luck !

Yep. Go for it. My little 6x3:

4 toms, and a rampant cucumber. Plus marigolds for the Whitefly, 3 pepper plants and 2 trays of Wallflowers for next year. In spring its chock full of seedlings with shelves on 3 sides. A bit of organisation and moving plants around every othet day means they all get light, shade and warmth.

Thanks! Has to be kept in order or i wouldn't be able to get in! Best thing about that greenhouse is that it was bought 3rd hand from a friend for £20 4 years ago!

Sounds like you got a good bargain there , well done !
I've always been one to buy good 2nd hand if possible ; why buy new at inflated prices when 'good condition used' does the same job ?

Exactly. I wasn't sure if i would be any good at greenhouse growing or if i would enjoy it so i was reluctant to spend hundreds on a aluminium and glass greenhouse. I've come to love my polycarbonate contraption thats held together by bolts and screws of many varieties. Does the job for me.
