Silver Birch yellowing and falling leaves

Our mature (TPO'd) Silver Birch is losing a vast amount of yellow leaves like it's autumn. I've found a couple of recent articles on the net suggesting the very dry period is a likely cause. Nitrogen and Iron deficiency are also cited as possible causes so I'll try and address them in parallel and hope that the situation can be recovered.

just interested to know if anyone else is seeing similar?

not this year (so far) but Birch is relatively shallow rooted and doesn't fare well in hot dry soils. Mine have gone brown  and crispy occasionally in the past
