No idea ??

I have no idea what this plant is or how to look after it. A friend said it is named commonly as " Lambs Ears ".
Anyone help on this.

 Stachys byzantina  if it is. Just Google lambs ears and as always lots of info and videos to help you.

needs very little maintenance.  It likes free draining soil/gritty compost and doesn't ned a lot of watering. It prefers a sunny position.  Trim old flowered stems off.

Can you cut this right back to the ground at this time of year and have it spring back?

I know it's hard to be 100% sure from one photo, but it kinda looks  like lychnis coronarius.

I'm inclined to agree with you Hosta. Are the flowers a really neon pink Dave - on long stems?
It doesn't look quite right for lamb's lugs - Stachys. They have 'candles' of pale pink flowers. 
Google both and see  - both are lovely and bees etc love them

Yes, the flowers are pink but on very short stems.
