    Sorry ... but is the UK really full of dangerous insects that are going to decimate the nation's children .... if so, then someone should have warned me ... heaven knows how my children survived ... I didn't keep them in perspex boxes scared

    I do find it sad when people don’t let their children gain knowledge of insects and plants, the outdoor world in case they get attacked by a ladybird or suchlike. I don’t blame the parents, it’s the media scare stories of deadly spider/caterpillar/weed invasions and big corporations pushing Anti bacterial wipes/creams etc that feed this terror

    It is also experience. If you haven't grown up with ladybirds, perhaps you think they will give you gangrene. It is sad.
