What is this?

hi all, I have a very tall weed growing in my Belfast sink where I planted some unsuccessful crocus bulbs that I hope will flower next year. Can anyone identify it? It’s at least 1m tall, a bright red stalk and small pink flowers. Wondering why this has thrived so well but nothing came of the crocus bulbs!

It's a willowherb ... one of those plants that grow all over deserted ground because their fluffy seeds drift around on the breeze.   Most people regard it as a weed and will pull it out quick before it seeds.

Thanks for that. I let it grow as was curious as to what it was but I’ve had enough of it now!
