plant id??

Hi all,

I just found this in my garden, can anyone tell me what it is? is it a weed or perhaps something a bird has dropped from a feeder??

I don't remember planting it...

    Do the leaves feel rough and bristly?  Could be a sunflower, they not infrequently escape from bird feeders.

    They do actually! I'll just leave them where they are for now, see how they turn out...
