Help Please!! Rhod Crisis!

Hello again Garden Experts!
I noticed my Rhododendron is having a big crisis. Photos attached.
It looks like some insect eggs (not sure what they are) and they attract ants. I have not seen the ants moving the eggs maybe because they attach the rhod stems tightly?
Please please help me!!! They look really disgusting...

Thanks to Freddies Dad and Dovefromabove!!! I was hoping the ants will be able to clear them but it does not seem to happen.
I will give the cotton stick a try tonight. It is just too many of them :s

Hi. Just to bring you an update. I did the soapy water method. The rhod is super clean now. Fingers crossed the scale insects will not fight back. Thanks for the advices!!!
