What would you do?

This is the North Eastern bottom corner of my garden.  It's the next part of the garden I would like to do something with. As you can see from the pictures the niebours huge connifer shadows most of the corner (it gets the morning sun up until 1pm) The soil is dry and there's lot's of bird poop out of the tree. Nothing grows here including weeds. Does anyone have any suggestions that could make it look a little more appealing than this apart from plastc plants :D Thanks.

I would plant shrubs and a small tree on the corner of the lawn, and use the problem corner as a storage/working area behind them. Some trellis at the edge of the lawn, with planting in front of it would also screen the area.  Alternatively, build a raised bed in that area, to improve soil quality, and plant with shade loving plants. You’ll gets lots of ideas for those from forum members.
  • I would suggest same as pp. Either screen that area off from the shrub on the left right across, for storage. If you already have plenty of storage then a large corner raised bed with probably 3 tiers of different height beds coming down. That will create a bit of height and also more interesting than just a one level raised bed.

I'd get a quote from a tree surgeon and offer to go halves on the cost of removing the tree.

perfect spot for some compost bins and put a section of trellis in front to disguise it.
