Creeping woodsorrel / red oxalis

Good morning -  I am looking for suggestions for weeding tools. For several years I have had an annual battle with the oxalis and have spent many an hour removing by hand.

I have just seen that one large flower bed is absolutely matted with the stuff and I started weeding yesterday. It is tight round the plants I want to keep and even with my smallest trowel I was disturbing the roots of the flowering plants.

Round 2 today. I was wondering if a metal skewer would work. I need to loosen the earth so I can pull up the oxalis root. I have also seen something called a weeding finger - single prong fork.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I use an old (bakelite handle!) table knife for awkward spaces and crevices.
A more modern one would probably work too, but maybe not stainless steel if you need it sharp.

Thanks, Buttercupdays. That would save buying another garden tool. It is such a dense carpet of oxalis - and it was not long ago weeded.
