Dahlia being eaten

My dahlias in pots were doing well until this week when it looks like somethings eating them. Any suggestions on what I can do to protect them?

    Probably slugs and snails ... go out in the evening and inspect under the leaves at the base of the plant ... gather up the molluscs you find and dispose of them as you see fit.

    If you need to use slug pellets, remember the instructions are one pellet to every 4sq inches. So probably 4 or 5 pellets in a pot.
