Fatsia drooping

We received a fatsia when my mother-in-law passed away in Febrauary.  It was doing great until a few weeks ago.  It began to droop.  I thought it was just dry so I watered it and let it sit in the sink to drain.  It did not perk up.  I put it on our screened in porch.  It went totally flat.  I assumed this was due to the South GA heat.  I brought it back inside and it perked up a tad but it is still not standing tall.  Any Suggestions?

Not sure what's going on there but have you tipped it out of the pot and had a look at the roots? There might be something eating the roots.

It may also need a bigger pot .

I'd agree - it needs a far bigger pot than that or it'll struggle to thrive.
I expect your climate might be tricky for it. They grow best in a bit of shade, and they prefer some moisture. If you can get it in a shady position outdoors in the ground, it will do better. Failing that - a really big container, and a cool spot  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
