Green fly, Aphids and thrip problem! Photos.

I have an infestation of all three I think! I can indentify the aphids and green fly but not sure if the small white bugs are thrips.

They are all all over the new foliage of my plants. I tried blasting them with the hose and tried soapy spray but no luck, there are just too many. Although I have noticed ladybird larvae around the plants I don’t think there’s enough to control the bugs. I am wondering whether I should buy in ladybird larvae?

I found a website that sells a 100 for £25 plus postage. Has anyone here bought these before with success? I don’t want to shed out a load of money if there’s an easier solution.

Looking at your shrub, I think it's just aphids. They can be a pain but in my experience, the best way is to rub them off with a damp sponge/cloth or with your fingers. Not sure how big your shrubs are, but if not too big, try to get into the habit of doing that daily if possible. Setting on jet spray is another option. Many plants can come under attack with rising temperatures and lush growth. With evergreen leaves, as long as you keep on top of it and keep the colonies down, they will not damage the leaves too much.

Make sure your plants are not over-fed, as plants will grow too fast and become more susceptible to pests like aphids.

Is that an eleagnus? I'd agree with Borderline - just hose them off. The shrub will handle it no problem. It's one of those things - some warmth, new growth - perfect for an invasion of greenfly. It'll balance out in time  :)
If it's mainly tough shrubs you have, they will handle it all well. If it's softer perennial growth [they love that!] you'll just have to be a bit more vigilant for a little while.
I have very few greenfly - the blue tits hoover them up.  It's worth having a couple of feeders near susceptible plants to encourage them in. They can really help, although it takes a little while.   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
