This has appeared in a friend of mines garden. It has self seeded and we’re nkt sure what it is. Any ideas?

I would say an ash sapling, or several.

Snap! We got lots of those in our garden before we had the female ash tree felled ... we still get a few appearing two years later.

We have loads of saplings too, even with no big ash tree near. They seem to seed in the hardest places - between the roots of roses, under paving. It's def'ly best to get them out while you can.
