My strawberry plant has root rot I believe, as a result of overwatering. I bring him inside at night and on very cloudy/rainy days. Watered every morning. I think there is fungus in the soil too. Do you think re-potting is enough to save him?
It’s a small plant, it shouldn’t have fruit as it can’t make fruit and roots, so start by cutting of the fruiting stem. tip it out of the pot and check the compost, they are prone to Vine Weevil which will make them drop. If you don’t see the maggot in there, re pot into a small pot, so it just fits in, unless you live in an extremely cold area, put the plant outside and don’t overwater it. It may pick up. Report as the roots fill that pot.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
So I should cut off the two stems with fruit on them? How far down? Will it be okay then? Do I still need to repot him? Do I need to do anything to the roots?
