White Echinacea not growing petals

Anyone else growing white Echinacea? I purchased five three years ago in bloom from the GC, each with beautiful normal white petals. Last year they produced flower heads and seeds.. but were weird and green, without a single petal. I put it down to bad weather or odd growing conditions. The same thing has happened again this year.. what is going on? It is the same for all five plants. My purple Echinacea are fine and normal each year.
