Bug identity

These have appeared on the underside of the leaves on my magnolia. Can anyone identify them please? Should i remove them or leave them be?

Scale insects. I'd remove them, sap suckers that are feeding on your magnolia. White fluffy stuff is them laying eggs for the next generation.

I find they wipe off quite easily when I spot them on my acer. Use a tissue if you're squeamish.

    Fab Kitty, thanks so much!!!
  • Thanks to all from me too. I have the same problem - I thought they were caterpillars at first. Brilliant pictures, Lomi, much better than mine.
