polly

I have recently got a deep square tub (wooden) to sit alongside my wooden arbour seat. I already have a Jasmin to plant in the tub can anyone give me some ideas what else I could plant in there to give colour and interest if possible during most months of the year?

A variegated ivy, such as the lovely gold heart, looks good all year round, and the flowers and berries feed wildlife.  Have a look at Fibrex, they are ivy specialists and have a huge selection.  I've found them very good people to deal with.

How much space have you got. It it's a small space, Erigeron Karvinskianus are ideal plants to decorate the tops of the soil. Can flower for up to 10 months in a year and can die down in colder areas, but also could be semi-evergreen. If you have more space, what about Gaura Lindheimeri, ideal for container planting if positioned in sun. Again, a long flowering plant if given good free draining soil.

    Some good ideas, thanks.
tub is approx 50cm (20 ins) square and 40cm (16 ins) deep.
situated against a west facing stone wall.
it gets the sun in the afternoon and evening.
